Guidelines for the Management of Severe TBI Course for Critical Care NursesThe Brain Trauma Foundation (BTF) with an unrestricted educational grant from Codman, A Johnson & Johnson Company, is pleased to announce this dynamic and comprehensive educational program on traumatic brain injury (TBI) with a series of 12 online sessions designed for critical care nurses. The successful management of severe traumatic brain injury is one of the most challenging and rewarding patient populations for nurses in the intensive care unit setting. These 12 sessions are directed at the overall critical care management of the patient with severe TBI from admission to discharge based on the BTF guidelines to improve patient outcomes. Results of the 2006 BTF National Trauma Center SurveyThis presentation reviews the results of the 2006 BTF National Trauma Center Survey. It concludes that adherence to evidence-based guidelines for severe TBI has improved dramatically since 1991. Trauma center level and treatment protocols were associated with good adherence, suggesting that directing patients with severe TBI to Level I and Level II trauma centers with treatment protocols will improve outcome for these patients.
